Use:
To express cause (or condition) and effect.
Form:
if + present simple + will / won’t
If you eat too much, you’ll gain weight.
Will is not usual in the condition clause.
If you will eat too much, you’ll gain weight. ✘
The clauses can be reversed.
You’ll gain weight (result) if you eat too
much (condition).
If the result clause is first, a comma is not necessary.
