We use the Present Progressive:

• for actions that are happening now, at the
moment of speaking.
Look! Scott is wearing his new jeans.
• for actions that are happening temporarily
or at the present period of time.
He’s working at a supermarket these
days.
• for future arrangements (we mention when).
Peter is going to Paris next week.

Present Simple vs Present Progressive
Present Simple is used:
• for actions we do every day, for
actions which are repeated regularly or
permanent states.
I visit my grandparents every weekend.
Present Progressive is used:
• for actions that are happening now, at the
moment of speaking, for actions that are
happening temporarily at the present period of
time or for future arrangements.
I’m visiting my grandparents next week.
