Verbs need an infinitive in the complement


 Some verbs need an infinitive in the complement and some ⇒ verbs need an-ing form instead.

What is the infinitive?
The infinitive in English grammar is the basic form of the verb.

The infinitive could be used in two ways:
1- By itself,
for example, play in  I can play
2- With (to),
for example, play in I learned to play tennis.
